"Loneliness is the price we have to pay for being born in this modern age, so full of freedom, independence, and our own egotistical selves" (pg 30, Sensei)
I do not got on social media on a daily. Social media is used as a distraction from reality, especially when it comes to fake news to catch people's attentions. The media takes our ability away from being able to focus the task at hand, it takes us away from reality. For example, in a social awkward situation, we our a button away from going onto our social media devices to take us away from reality. Taking away the ability for each person to connect face to face to one another and have a personal connection. On contrast, social media can bring us together over topics that we share interest in. We can also come together over a funny video, sharing laughter together can bring a group of people together.
Social media is made up of a lot of ideas that society want to portray upon us. Since these ideas are portrayed all over the media. It influences our everyday lives, decision making, the way react to certain events and the specific emotions we feel. But these ideas can take away our individual thoughts on what we really think and feel. We choose to silence our own feelings and thoughts because it does not conform to society. Therefore, we hide our true selves and follow the ideas portrayed in social media.
