Fremdschaeman - the feeling of being ashamed on someone else's behalf.
After seeing the definition, I quickly related to it from a memory last year during a judo tournament. I have been a Sensei for 2 years now and a captain of our high school judo team for 3 years and will be captain next year for wrestling. Being a captain, you are responsible for the team, how they behave, act, play, and how they respect the other coaches and players.
During the awards ceremony after a championships, one of the boys stood on top of another boy, like a podium, when he did not win 1st, he got 2nd. It shown that we did not have discipline or honor of our school. It was an immature act that really depicted the maturity of the team and how poorly we regulated the behavior of our teammates. I was ashamed for their actions and ashamed that I did not tell them to behave before hand.
I can incorporate this vocab word into all the team talks as a way to tell them to watch their actions, have honor of our school, have discipline and respect to others.
